I am a Philosophy PhD Candidate at Saint Louis University and a Lecturer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Research

I primarily work in ethics and philosophy of religion.

My work in ethics centers on theories of well-being, or self-interest, including their impact on normative ethics, theories of the good life, and philosophical discussions of the meaning of life.

My work in philosophy of religion is divided between issues in Christian theology (e.g., the relationship between well-being and soteriology) and issues in theism, broadly construed (e.g., the problem of evil and the coherence of theism).

My courses are designed to foster critical thinking, meaningful dialogue, and a lasting spirit of inquiry.

Past

In the recent past, I’ve worked as the editorial assistant for two journals: Ancient Philosophy Today: DIALOGOI and Res Philosophica. I was also a production assistant for Faith and Philosophy and an adjunct instructor at Asbury University.

In the not-so-recent past, I served as a Licensed Local Pastor in the UMC.

Personal

My wife, Christa, is a talented book cover designer and cat enthusiast. When I’m not philosophizing you’ll find us ice-skating, rollerblading, or roller skating (yes, the last two are different).
